THE MOUNTAIN CRIES
Author: Gracce Bella-Kamara
From the four cardinals of this mountain
Friends reek the secret of
unfriendly visitor
Whose stricture is too difficult to bestir
Yet, we have hope.
Why are you so wicked?
Just when we start to jubilate against
The mystery of January six
But now replaced by the seventh-heaven
You are here to shatter all our plans
And agenda for prosperity
You are indeed wicked and heartless!
You come to strip us naked
Still we have hope.
Perhaps, its better you’ve
come
Your rules rule for good
No more going out on the dazzle
Thinking of you brings me pain
My heart bleeds and weeps for fellow country men
You’re death perceived
The meek and weak can, but pray
Hope shall surely come.
I see you are happy
You don’t want him to
leave
Because he is taking you there
Across the rivers of gold
But before you become certain of his stay,
Think about the havoc he wrecks
No schooling for the pen seekers
No warmth for the sick
No respect for the dead
No pride for our origin

Give us back our integrity!
Give us back our freedom!
Give us back our glory!
What dost thou thinkest?
We pray and hope
That whether you leave now or soon
We believe that all shall…
Atlas! Hope has come!
All shall be well again in this Lion Mountain.
